Lisa V Robinson is an emerging contemporary painter currently based in Westgate Studios, Wakefield, Northern England. She studied Fine Art at Manchester Metropolitan University, graduating with first class honours in 2008. Since graduating from university, Lisa has proceeded to win the Joan Day Painting Bursary and more recently has been short listed for the Valerie Sykes New Lights Art Prize. Hovering between abstraction and figuration, Lisa's expressive, vibrant work celebrates painting as an physical and sensual process. This enquiry has stemmed from a personal attraction to the sensuous nature of oil paint, in particular the tactile sensation of applying gestural brushwork and observing the paint flow freely as watercolour down the canvas surface.
